Configuring your DIC Telecom Internet connection
(Windows 98/ME/2000/XP)
This guide will help you setup your computer to access
Internet services through
DIC Telecom’s
network.
Steps to Follow:
A. Install Network Card
Connection
to DIC Telecom’s network requires you to have a Fast
Ethernet card (also called Network card) installed in your
PC. You
do not
dial up to
this network so a modem will not be required. A network card
can be purchased off the shelf and installed from any
computer shop.
B.
Cable Connection
It is very
important that only your network cable be plugged into the
Network card port. Once this cable is inserted in the port a
green light
should glow
next to it. There is often confusion between the telephone &
network cables. The difference is in their jacks. The
telephone jack being smaller than the network jack can
easily fit into the network card port, but will not work.
The easiest
way to explain this is to present a diagram.
